Walmart is launching an online store for outdoor products on its flagship site driven by Moosejaw, the specialist retailer it acquired for $51 million last year. This means that Moosejaw will sell an outdoor range on Walmart.com, as well as running its own store. Walmart said that much of the existing assortment in the premium outdoor store will be fulfilled by Moosejaw, but the U.S. company plans to broaden the assortment over time to potentially include products from other specialty outdoor retailers and from other outdoor brands. Craghoppers, Deuter, Eddie Bauer, Gramicci, Jack Wolfskin and Leki are among the 50-odd brands on the new website. The website also featured some Black Diamond products at the time of its launch, but BD forced it to withdraw them because of its determination to stay out of Walmart and its stores. Moosjaw.com has many more brands on its own website, including BD. Moosejaw is the first of Walmart's acquired retail brands to open a digital store on its site.
