The Thule Group has opened a new assembly facility of 13,500 square meters at Pila, in the western part of Poland, to expand its own production capacities in the Sport & Cargo Carriers category and to handle the manufacture of products that were previously subcontracted in the Active with Kids and Packs, Bags and Luggage categories. The factory, which has required an investment of 80 million Swedish kronor (€8.1m-$10.0m) will initially employ 100 people with the possibility to rise up to 500. The largest of seven factories operated by Thule has been operating for nearly 20 years in the nearby town of Huta. The geographical proximity will allow it to share key functions with the new factory in Pila.
