The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has settled with the M Group, doing business as Bamboosa, over the company’s claims that its products were 100 percent bamboo fiber, when actually they were rayon. Bamboosa falsely said they had bamboo’s antimicrobial properties and are biodegradable, the FTC said. As part of the settlement, Bamboosa cannot make future claims that its products are made of bamboo fiber, are antimicrobial or are biodegradable, unless it can back the assertions up with proof.
