Joining the likes of Salomon and Salewa, Montane will stay out of the Ispo Munich show at the end of this month because, the management says, it tends to see suppliers there rather than customers. The management of Montane says the company has already closed its main order book for the autumn/winter 2018/19 season. It held sales meetings with distributors in Manchester and Portland, Oregon last November, and it prefers to see retail clients on the road and in its showrooms. Montane will attend the OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen because of a better timetable and networking opportunities with the outdoor industry. It prefers to spend its marketing budget on engagement activities like its sponsorship of the grassroots programs organized by the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) and the Tor des Géants race. On the other hand, we hear that Arc'teryx and Columbia Sportswear will not exhibit at next week's new Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show in Denver. They will show at Ispo, even though Arc'teryx belongs, like Salomon, to Amer Sports. Montane's U.S. distributor will not be there either, preferring regional shows.
