Outdoor Retailer (OR) and the Outdoor Foundation are joining hands to launch an industry-wide campaign that aims to raise outdoor participation among U.S. youngsters. The campaign is to invest in grassroots community programs involving local retailers. It will be supported by donations from attendees at OR. When registering for the trade fair, participants can support an outdoor outing for two, five or ten people, with donations starting from $20 and up to $500 for a college outdoor program. The two partners want to involve the industry in picking the projects that will be supported, and they will communicate about these programs through OR's social media channels throughout the year. Two years ago the Outsiders Ball was launched as the U.S. outdoor industry's flagship fundraiser for community and campus projects. It has funded 200 projects across the country so far, connecting more than 30,000 young people with the outdoors. The Ball is to take place again during OR in Salt Lake City in August.
