Smartwool has been honored by Big City Mountaineers (BCM) as its corporate partner of the year. BCM offers under-resourced youth in the U.S. the opportunity to live transformational wilderness experiences. In 2018, Smartwool donated nearly $20,000 through its Advocacy Fund to BCM. These funds will enable BCM to send more youth participants into the backcountry and to offer them camping apparel for overnight trips. In addition to the gift from the Advocacy Fund, Smartwool raised an additional $4,300 for BCM at the Summer Outdoor Retailer Show, and donated nearly 1,000 pairs of wool socks for BCM trips in 2018. Furthermore, an employee of the company, Joelle Hamm, raised $2,300 participating in a BCM Summit for Someone climb of Longs Peak, in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
