The latest edition of the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market attracted about 29,000 visitors, up from 27,000 last year. Held on Aug. 3 to 6 in Salt Lake City, it hosted a total of 1,636 exhibitors, more or less on a par with the same session last year. The NPD Group said at the show that the U.S. outdoor market grew by only 0.7 percent in the 12 months through last May, with increases in footwear and equipment offsetting drop of 1.2 percent in apparel. Growth was recorded in the women's and children's segments.
