The Outdoor Retailer Winter Market ended on Jan. 12 with total attendance by about 20,000 registered visitors, down from the figure of 22,576 people that was reported for the trade show in Salt Lake City one year ago. The number of brands on the show floor increased slightly to 1,075 from 1,027, and 163 of them were new to the show. Difficult weather conditions probably contributed to the decline in attendance, along with the growing competition from regional shows. On the other hand, business was said to have been very brisk because of the reduction of show days from four to three, which was intended to give retailers the possibility to leave on Friday for their own stores during a critical time of the season. The show was preceded by the All Mountain Demo at the Solitude Mountain Resort on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
