Bridgedale, already on the Recommended Kit List for the past 11 years for its socks, has signed a new three-year contract with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofEA). Taking effect on Sept. 1, the contract expands the list to all of the sock models in Bridgedale's Hike category, as well as its men's and women's Coolmax Liners. The socks are recommended to anyone undertaking a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award. Launched in 1956, the DofEA has evolved into an international coming-of-age challenge for anyone aged 14 to 24. There are currently four sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition, with an additional Residential section at the Gold level. Bridgedale Socks has its headquarters and factory in the town of Newtonards in Northern Ireland.
