With the camping travel market booming and the “glamping” theme being promoted by the tourism industry for some time now, Texas-based RV rental company Outdoorsy is entering the luxury camping business. The company, whose offerings are also bookable online for Australians, New Zealanders, Canadians, Britons, Germans, French, Italians and Spaniards, is taking a stake in Collective Retreats, an operator of five exclusive campgrounds in the U.S. that feature luxury outdoor accommodations and culinary experiences. The investment aims to create custom campground properties and provide outdoor travel offerings for experienced and new customers seeking the comforts and conveniences of home.

Collective Retreats luxury camping site

Beginning in mid-June, the first upscale camping experience will be offered to Outdoorsy travelers staying at a Collective Retreats property on Governors Island, New York. Guests will first receive a secure site for their RV near the Statue of Liberty, be picked up by the retreat’s water taxi and receive a private tour of major New York City waterfront attractions en route to the retreat. At Collective Governors Island, they have access to food and beverage offerings and wellness experiences before sleeping in safari-style accommodations with views of NYC and Lady Liberty. Optional services include housekeeping and take-out meals. Similar packages are planned for other Collective Retreats campgrounds across the U.S. this summer.
