The headquarters of Specialized Bicycle Components in Morgan Hill, California, was hit by a daytime break-in and robbery on Sunday, Dec. 13. According to reports in The Mercury News, the thieves stole 18 high-value bicycles worth more than $160,000 in total. Police officers were called at about 4:35 pm by a report of a burglary, the Morgan Hill Police Department said in a news release. The stolen items were part of a collection of one-of-a-kind prototypes, personally-owned and race-winning bicycles on display at Specialized. Among the 18 stolen bikes were bespoke bicycles made for cycling celebrities. The company is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves or the return of the stolen bikes.
