Austria’s second-largest bicycle producer, Simplon Fahrrad, has set the course for further growth: the company’s parent, Simplon Holding, has just acquired a property formerly owned by Vorwerk Austria, only 90 meters from Simplon’s premises. It will be handed over on April 1, 2021. No details were given about the purchase price.

The acquired property consists of a one-story warehouse and a two-story office wing with nearly 1,800 square meters on a lot with 3,857 square meters. According to Simplon, conversion plans are well advanced. The goal is to complete the work at the old as well as the new location before the end of 2021. The property currently used by Simplon for manufacturing and administration will then be reserved for manufacturing and logistics only, the new property will house administration, finance, sales, product development and management and feature an expanded experience center for end customers and dealers. Simplon COO Thomas Zenker said that the new location will enable the brand to “almost double the existing production capacity in single-shift operation and make processes more efficient.” Therefore, the company also plans to create additional jobs in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg.
