A jury has elected Sympatex Technologies' Moisture Tech Volterra polyester-polyamide compound to get the 2013 Performance Award at the Munich Performance Days, the sports textiles show due to be held on Nov. 19-21 in the Bavarian capital. It picked Sympatex' four-layer footwear laminate among more than 600 submissions. The product transfers moisture quickly from the wet foot to a lining and then to Sympatex' waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane through an intermediate layer. At that stage, the moisture generates large-scale activation of a hydrophilic membrane, speeding up the transmission of water vapor. Sympatex stresses that its membranes are guaranteed to be green. It has no PTFE or PFC. It is 100 percent recyclable. It is Bluesign and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified.
