Canada Goose's employees surprisingly found in their mailboxes a letter from Pamela Anderson, the star of Baywatch, on Sept. 5. Anderson, who is an animal rights activist and a supporter of Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), reportedly urged the employees of the outdoor apparel company to use their “insider advantage” to stop their employer from using coyote fur as trim on its coats. The e-mail explained the suffering of the coyotes before dying, which can last for days. A link to a video of coyotes struggling in traps was included in the e-mail. Anderson also pointed out that “hundreds of major designers and retailers — including Arc'teryx, Giorgio Armani, Helly Hansen, The North Face, Patagonia, Ralph Lauren, and REI — have already eliminated fur from their lines and use luxe modacrylics and other innovative materials that are just as warm and beautiful …” An excerpt from Anderson's note is available on Peta's website.
