Columbia Sportswear is one of the companies that participated in relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Dorian, which ravaged the Bahamas early this month and went on to damage parts of the U.S. and Canada. It organized a Retail Charity Checkout Program, pledging to match every donation made by a customer at any Columbia retail or outlet store in the U.S. from Sept. 10 to Sept. 30 up to $50,000. All funds will go toward the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season Recovery Fund of the Center for Disaster Philanthropy. The company will also be matching donations from employees of its various brands, such as Sorel, Mountain Hardwear and Prana. In addition, the company partnered with Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS), which donated five percent of all Columbia-related sales from Sept. 6 to Sept. 10 to the Hurricane Relief Fund. Columbia added a further five percent to those donations.
