High Sierra, a division of Samsonite, and The Citypak Project will distribute 1,750 specially designed Citypak backpacks to homeless people in the Boston area on June 19. The outdoor company and the charity, through a partnership with Boston Healthcare for the Homeless, will host health fairs at six locations that day. The backpacks will be offered to attendees as an incentive to encourage them to take advantage of health services on-site. In 2012, High Sierra formed a design partnership with the Chicago-based Citypak Project, a charity initiative founded by Ron Kaplan, to create backpacks for the homeless. Since then, the two partners have distributed over 8,000 Citypacks in cities across the U.S. Boston marks the first east coast distribution site. High Sierra is also the official bags supplier to the U.S. Ski, U.S. Snowboarding and U.S. Freeskiing teams.
