For the third consecutive year, the Lenzing Group, the Austrian producer of sustainable specialty fibers, was awarded the gold status in the CSR rating by EcoVadis, a provider of sustainability ratings for companies, intelligence and collaborative tools for performance improvement in global supply chains. The methodology framework assesses companies’ policies and actions as well as their published reporting related to environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. More than 65,000 companies from over 200 industries in 160 countries around the world use EcoVadis to evaluate themselves and their supply chain.

Lenzing’s regained gold status makes it one of the top two percent of all evaluated companies in its industry. In addition to the positive assessment according to the guidelines, EcoVadis also highlighted the long-standing practice of sustainable procurement in the Lenzing Group.

Lenzing’s ambitious climate target is an important part of the corporate strategy and of the responsibility towards future generations. By 2030, the company aims to reach an interim goal of reducing emissions by 50 percent per ton of product compared to 2017. The Science Based Targets Initiative, the most recognized organization in the field of climate-related targets, has scientifically confirmed the climate targets of the group. In 2019, Lenzing was also again ranked number one in the world in the Hot Button Report of Canopy. In this ranking, the Canadian NGO evaluates the 32 largest producers of wood fibers worldwide with regard to their success in the sustainable procurement of wood and pulp.
