The company Medi, which also owns the compression sock brand CEP, started producing textile fabric masks for mouth and nose in its ready-to-wear department. The company from Bayreuth in Germany cooperates with the Corona Nachbarschaftshilfe (“neighborhood help”) Weiden in northern Bavaria. The organization provides the fabric and coordinates the distribution of the masks. According to Medi, the masks are not certified medical products, but the company wants to make a contribution that can help to slow down the spread of the coronavirus. Especially in old people’s homes and hospices, the cotton masks are of great help in the care of high-risk patients, as protective masks have become a scarce commodity.
