Ortovox has announced the launch of its own wool standard, called the Ortovox Wool Promise (OWP). The outdoor clothing brand said the OWP is the result of two years of preparation, in which the company held talks with wool farmers, suppliers and producers. The OWP is based on the global regulations of the Responsible Wool Standard, but “takes an even more extensive approach,” according to the company. In order to fulfill the OWP standard, four areas must all meet the company's quality requirements. The four areas include farm management, animal welfare, land management, and transport and slaughter. More than 60 indicators are checked regularly on the farms by certified, independent auditors, the company said.
