Patagonia has announced that its whole wetsuit product line is now Fair Trade Certified. The company helped Sheico, the multinational manufacturer of sportswear products that supplies most of the wetsuits on the market, obtain Fair Trade Certification, thereby making it easier for other brands to join in. This development follows the launch by Patagonia, in autumn 2016, of its neoprene-free wetsuits, made with Yulex natural rubber from sources that are Forest Stewardship Council certified by the Rainforest Alliance. Water-based glue and solution-dyed face fabrics have also been incorporated in the wetsuits in order to further reduce their environmental footprint. As of spring 2017, Patagonia's full line of bikinis and board shorts has been Fair Trade Certified.
