“Respect the Mountains Envirotrek Mountain Clean Up,” an initiative to clean up the environment sponsored by Keen, will take place for the first time in the U.K. next Aug. 5 in the Peak District. Participants will help collect rubbish and other waste at the site in Bamford. After the clean-up, they will be able to choose to take part in a range of outdoor activities including mountain biking, canyoning, climbing and caving. Envirotek is a three-year-old joint venture between Respect The Mountains and Keen, the U.S.-based footwear producer, with events organized since 2009 across European mountain destinations including Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and France. More than 500 kg of rubbish was cleared in 445 hours thanks to last year's Envirotrek actions across Europe. People are given an opportunity to take care of the environment while enjoying outdoor activities in nature.
