YKK is to begin production of its environmentally-friendly Natulon zipper in the U.S. Natulon, which is part of YKK U.S.' collection of sustainable trims, will be manufactured in Macon, Georgia, to cut the environmental impact from sourcing overseas and reduce lead times. The Natulon zipper is made from recycled PET bottles, old fiber and other polyester remnants, and is Bluesign certified. The YZiP zipper with Natulon, for jeans and trousers, is used in the denim industry of North and Central America. The Natulon collection also includes snaps and buttons made with a new finishing process that is said to reduce use of thermal energy, toxic chemicals, water and production of waste.
