The shutdown of sporting goods stores because of the coronavirus epidemic is not automatically benefiting the pure online players. While Amazon says it is recruiting 5,000 more workers in the U.S. to face a surge in online orders, Tradeinn, the biggest Spanish online store for sporting goods, has told CMDsport that its sales have been relatively flat during the past few days as compared to a year ago. They were up by 50 percent prior to the crisis. In Germany, meanwhile, a survey indicates that cutomers are placing about 30 percent fewer orders online, and many e-tailers are afraid that the government will ask for a halt to all logistic operations. Zalando is cleaning one of its offices after one of its employees tested positive in a Covid-19 check-up.
