Kyle Gendreau, former executive director and chief financial officer at Samsonite International, has been appointed as chief executive for the owner of the Gregory and High Sierra brands. He takes over from Ramesh Dungarmal Tainwala, who resigned after about four years in charge. This came after an attack from a short seller triggered a sharp decline in the price of the company's shares on the Hong Kong stock exchange, leading to their suspension on May 28. Blue Orca Capital raised questions about accounting practices and governance at Samsonite, leading to a decline of more than 20 percent in its stock market value in two days. The shares resumed trading after Gendreau's appointment. Samsonite has rebutted Blue Orca's allegations in a statement to the stock exchange and Tainwala firmly denied the allegations in a statement to Reuters.
