At the Outdoor Retailer Snow Show, running from Jan. 30 to Feb. 1 in Denver, the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), Snowsports Industries America (SIA) and the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) announced that they were forming the Outdoor Business Climate Partnership. This is the first broad coalition of trade groups in the outdoor industry. The group will be urging the U.S. Congress to legislate market-based policies to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and decarbonize the electric grid at the level of the states and the utilities. By the group's estimate, outdoor recreation as an industry generates $887 billion in the U.S. and attracts 150 million Americans annually.
