The session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that was held in Lausanne on June 25 unanimously approved the Paris 2024 proposal to include sport climbing, surfing, skateboarding and break dancing in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in the French capital city. A final decision on their inclusion is now to be made by the IOC Executive Board at a meeting in December 2020, after a period of observation of the four sports in question, but the climbing industry feels that there will be no retreat. At its June 24 session, the IOC also decided that the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina will host the Olympic Winter Games in 2026. The other candidate in the final ballot was Stockholm-Åre, Sweden. Milan-Cortina will also host the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games.
