Woolrich has announced The Woolrich Outdoor Foundation’s launch in partnership with the global environmental movement 1% for the Planet. Woolrich’s new foundation aims to help protect and preserve the outdoors. Using the 1% for the Planet system, Woolrich will donate 1 percent of its profits to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for environmental projects that fall within the three core pillars of the foundation: urban space renewal, protecting forests and coastal maintenance. The Woolrich Outdoor Foundation’s contributions will comprise 50 percent of money and 50 percent in product, volunteer hours, services, or communication and advertising activities. The new foundation is projected to donate around US$3 million in its first three years, Woolrich said. 1% for the Planet is the non-profit organization established in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, the founder of Blue Ribbon Flies.
