Patagonia's sales have doubled since 2008 to reach $540 million for the financial year ended last April, or 30 percent more than in the previous year, according to a report in The Seattle Times, and its profits have tripled in the same period. After 14 openings in the past year, the American company has a total of 88 stores around the world. Yvon Chouinard, founder and sole owner of Patagonia, filed a document in California last February to ensure that the company will continue to donate 1 percent of sales for environmental protection after his death or in the event of a stock market introduction.
