Black Diamond Equipment and its sister brand Pieps have become the official suppliers and safety partners for the Freeride World Tour for the next three years. They will be providing the athletes with tools, such as airbags, beacons, shovels and probes, and organizing safety workshops during events, such as the Freeride World Qualifier and Freeride Junior Tour (FJT), Verbier Freeride Week, FJT Fieberbrunn, Freeride Junior World Cup Kappl and FJT Verbier. Black Diamond, which is based in Utah and makes gear for skiers and climbers, made an explicit expansion into snow safety in 2012 when it acquired Pieps, the Austrian specialist in avalanche beacons, transceivers, probes, shovels and packs. Both brands are owned by Clarus Corporation of Salt Lake City, Utah.
