Garmin will act as official sponsor of the FIS World Championship in Nordic skiing taking place in Val di Fiemme, Italy, from Feb. 20 through March 3. Organizers expect 300,000 spectators to visit the Italian ski resort to watch the world's top athletes in ski jumping, cross-country skiing and Nordic combined. The GPS specialty company has already equipped some of the top athletes in Nordic sports with wrist-top computers, including Dario Cologna of Switzerland and the members of the Norwegian national team. Additionally, Garmin will support spectators with a wide range of electronic services on its own Garmin Connect site and the official site of the championship, including maps of the location and of the cross-country trails with points of interest highlighted. Users can study the altimetric profile and the distances of the various trails.
