Globetrotter presented its new online platform, outdoor.de, and the recently launched Globetrotter iPhone app at the OutDoor show. The leading German outdoor retail chain acquired the web domain outdoor.de one year ago. It has re-launched it with a fresh look in order to address a very broad target group, including newcomers to outdoor sports. Next to classical outdoor subjects, the website also publishes reports on more general topics in order to gain the attention of a new target group. The new Globetrotter iPhone app offers users the possibility to check out the network of the company's stores, offering a route planner to reach them. Users also get information about ongoing events organized by Globetrotter, and they can access the online Globetrotter store. Globetrotter also selected Haglöfs as this year's winner of its annual “supplier of the year” award at the OutDoor show. The German retail association, HDE, has awarded the Globetrotter store in Munich as “Store of the Year” in the “out of line” category. Globetrotter plans to open its next store in Stuttgart in 2014. It's still not planning to open any outside Germany.
