JanSport, a subsidiary of VF Corp., has announced the launch of the Recycled SuperBreak, its first backpack made with 100 percent recycled fabric. Each Recycled SuperBreak is said to contain the equivalent of 20 plastic water bottles worth of recycled plastic, based on a 6-ounce (around 170 grams) bottle, as well as 900-denier Polyester Cordura eco fabrics, made from post-consumer waste such as soda or water plastic bottles. Plastic is broken down through a sophisticated manufacturing process and transformed it into high-quality spun polyester yarn. The new Recycled SuperBreak pack will be available from May 1.
