Alongside 96 other companies from all sectors, Medi of Bayreuth was honored in Berlin at the annual ”Top Job” award ceremony, a seal of approval for the most attractive employers among Germany’s medium-sized businesses. Founded in 1951, Medi is a family business with 2,700 employees worldwide and 23 branches. In addition to CEP Sports, the brand of compression socks and clothing, its portfolio includes a fashion brand, Item m6, and a medical brand, Medi Medical.

The organization behind the “Top Job” seals is the Center for Employer Attractiveness (ZEAG), based on Lake Constance in Germany. The benchmarking is in the hands of Dr. Heike Bruch and her team from the Institute for Leadership and Human Resources Management at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. The project’s patron is a former German vice-chancellor, Sigmar Gabriel.

This year, Top Job surveyed 29,530 employees, 64 percent of whose employers are family businesses. Among the top employers for 2020 are 28 national and nine global market leaders. Medi was the only employer from the sporting goods and outdoor industry. On average, the companies surveyed employed 293 people, and about 25 percent of their management positions were filled by women. The Top Job company comparison has been around since 2002.
