Salewa has announced that Eline Le Menestrel has joined the Italian mountaineering brand’s team of athletes. Le Menestrel was born on March 30, 1998, in Fontainebleau, in the French Île-de-France region. Fontainebleau, called “Bleau” for short among climbers, is considered the cradle of bouldering. Her father, Marc Le Menestrel, is considered a co-founder of the area with his route developments. Among other things, he was able to climb the famous L’Alchemiste, the first 8B in Bleau. The bouldering pioneer from Fontainebleau, born in 1967, is one of France’s and Europe’s most famous climbing legends. In the 1980s, he opened some of the hardest and best known routes together with his brother Antoine Le Menestrel and the rest of the “Gang des Parisiens,” including “La Rose et le Vampire” in the Provence region (1985).
