Regatta announced that it was awarded the prestigious “Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2012.” Given every year to companies in all sectors on the British queen's birthday, this is one of the U.K.'s most prestigious accolades for business performance. The only other British company remotely involved in the sporting goods sector to have received this year's award is Aquapac International, a London-based firm that makes waterproof cases, bags and pouches for the protection of mobile phones, tablets and other items in the course of outdoor activities. Aquapac notes that its products have been sold in 61 countries over the past three years, and that 93 percent of its products are made at its small factory in the U.K., at the tune of over 200,000 items per year. Regatta says that, together with its Dare 2b sub-brand, it raised its sales outside the U.K. by 152 percent over the last six years. It points out that the award recognized the company's investment in its staff. Regatta's sales in over 45 countries outside its domestic market now account for over 40 percent of the total turnover. The company has dedicated sales offices for Ireland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Italy, Finland, the Czech Republic and Israel. The company is also expanding into Russia and the U.S.
