Teijin Group will be taking over from CrossOver, a Dutch venture, to investigate the feasibility of further developing and commercializing the SmartShoulder, a wearable tool for service engineers who work alone or in dangerous conditions. The tool features wearable sensors that can connect to a smartphone, detect if the wearer is in trouble and send out emergency alerts. The tool also features autonomous lighting. Teijin will co-develop the SmartShoulder with Elitac, a Dutch startup company that develops smart textiles and clothing integrated with devices.
