The North Face and REI Foundation will be presenting sponsors of the Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge, an initiative of the Outdoor Foundation in the U.S. that connects college students and their communities to the outdoors. The six-week competition will take place in early September, at the start of the autumn semester. The Challenge was launched in 2014 to help combat the widespread inactivity among youth and young adults in the country. In its pilot program, it engaged ten colleges and universities. This year, the Campus Challenge is looking to involve 50 colleges. The competition rewards those schools with the most outdoor activities logged by the most people in their campus network - faculty, students, local community and alumni. The school with the most participants and outdoor activities will be named the National Outdoor Champion, while the overall top individuals will be honored as the Outsiders of the Year. Registrations for the Challenge are open until May 1.
