The North Face is the new supplier of official kits for the Austrian climbing team for the next two years – and notably for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the first Games to include sport climbing as an event. The brand will be working with the athletes to develop apparel and gear for the competition and, eventually, the podiums. The key Austrian athletes are Jessica Pilz and Jakob Schubert. Pilz, who is already sponsored by TNF, won the Military World Games in 2017 and the Lead Climbing World Championships the following year. Schubert has been World Champion twice (2012, 2018) and World Cup winner three times (2011, 2014, 2018) in lead climbing. TNF will also be pursuing its “Walls Are Meant For Climbing” campaign this summer, setting up climbing walls for the public in various European cities.
