W.L. Gore & Associates, well known for its Gore-Tex membrane, has been awarded the No. 5 spot on the 2013 Best Multinationals in Europe by the Great Place to Work (GPTW) Institute. To be among the top 25 global companies to work for, companies must have appeared in at least three national lists in Europe over the past year. This year, a total of 2,119 companies from 19 European countries entered the competition. The U.S.-based company, which has subsidiaries in France, Germany, Italy and Sweden, also won the special award in the category of “Employee Development,” which recognizes a company that helps its employees realize their full potential. Gore's subsidiary in France ranked sixth in the small companies category of the French GPTW competition. The German subsidiary won a special award for “Equal opportunities and Diversity” and ranked third in “Germany's Best Employer” list. Gore's Italian subsidiary ranked second in the small and medium-sized companies category of the national competition and was also the winner of a special award for “Total Compensation.” Finally, Gore's Scandinavian subsidiary was awarded the No. 1 spot in the GPTW survey in Sweden for the fourth consecutive time.
