Confirming rumors that have been around since the last OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen, Sea to Summit, the Australian brand of equipment and accessories, has announced that its Zhong Shan-based subsidiary will take on the Chinese distribution of Camelbak effective from Nov. 1. Sea to Summit is already Camelbak's distributor for Australia. Through the recently signed distribution deal, Sea to Summit will replace Beijing Snowpeak Trade & Technology and will cover the three distribution channels of outdoor & sports, bicycle and household goods. Currently, Sea to Summit's Chinese operations employ 20 people, but are set to extend the team due to this new distribution agreements and other new ones. Additionally, the subsidiary in China has taken on the distribution of Back Country Cuisine, a brand of outdoor nutrition from New Zealand. China is the fourth market into which Back Country is selling after New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.
