Globetrotter, the German outdoor retail chain that is part of the Fenix Outdoor Group, is now offering the rental of outdoor equipment. The offer will initially cover the categories of water sports, backpacks & bags, tents, bicycles, outdoor kitchens and children’s equipment, but is likely to be expanded after a start-up phase. “The rental service is a good start for people who want to try out new outdoor activities for the first time before investing in high-quality equipment and the necessary storage space,” says Christian Zien, head of e-commerce at Globetrotter. But the new equipment rental service is also intended to contribute to sustainability: sharing equipment that is not permanently used can prevent unnecessary purchases, save raw materials and thus conserve resources, the company hopes. The rental service is available both online via globetrotter.de and directly at the Globetrotter stores. The gear is delivered directly to the customer’s home and can be returned after use. The minimum rental period is 3 days. The service is only available to residents of Germany.
