Kamik Footwear, the Canadian outdoor footwear group, has signed a distribution agreement with Hej International to sell its wellies, winter boots and outdoor footwear in the U.K. and Ireland. The Yorkshire-based company is already distributing Wigwam, a brand of sports performance socks, and it has a tight relationship with Kozi Kidz, which specializes in children's outdoor garments. Tomas Torstensson, Hej International's director, is the co-founder of Kozi Kidz. Kamik says the tie-up should enable it to take advantage of Hej International's track record in the outdoor and lifestyle markets. Hej International will start sales of Kamik's range for next winter and lead a comprehensive marketing and brand development campaign around the Canadian brand in the U.K and Ireland. Kamik previously changed its distribution arrangements in France and started another partnership for the Polish, Czech and Slovak markets after the appointment of Patrick Chevallier as its vice president of international sales last year. Italy and Spain are two other markets targeted by the Canadian company to expand its European distribution.
