European Outdoor Group and ISPO Group have announced this evening (Sept. 27) that the OutDoor by ISPO: Global Summit Edition will not take place as planned on Oct. 5-7. A letter from the president of EOG, Mark Held, was just received minutes before our daily Outdoor Industry Compass newsletter was sent.

“I am proud of the great concept and conference program that the EOG team has created, which has been well received after the discussions we have had with outdoor industry leaders. So I am very sad that the event cannot take place this year because the reality is that the entire outdoor trade is facing other major challenges due to the current global situation. It is difficult to get the leadership teams to put aside their work and come to a conference for three days at this time. We are now looking forward to ISPO Munich, where the whole industry will come together. There we will certainly return to some of this excellent content,” said Held.

The next OutDoor by ISPO will return to its traditional timeframe as a trade show platform and is scheduled for summer 2022. The exact date will be announced soon. Similar to ISPO Munich 2022, part of the platform at OutDoor by ISPO 2022 will be open to “consumer experts,” Messe München said.

According to Messe München, exhibitors of Outdoor by ISPO 2021 do not need to take any further action regarding their services booked as the organizer will cancel them. Exhibitors will not receive an invoice for the services booked. Participant fees already paid for tickets will be refunded by Messe München. However, costs for services booked with third parties will not be reimbursed, Messe München wrote in a separate statement.

We will try to provide you with more details about the cancellation soon. Meanwhile, here is the link to the official statement from EOG.
