A private equity fund, Equinox Partners, has reportedly signed an agreement in principle to acquire a 40 percent stake in Manifattura Valcismon, the Italian family-owned company that owns three important brands of sports apparel: Castelli for cycling, Karpos for hiking and trekking, and Sportful for cycling and Nordic skiing. The transaction, which is expected to close in February, should help the company to launch its own e-commerce and to expand in Asia and the U.S. Founded in 1946 as a yarn spinning factory, the company is run by Giordano Cremonese and his four children.
