An American investment company, Open Gate Capital, has acquired Zodiac Plaisance, known internationally as Zodiac Recreational, which claims to be the world's leading supplier of rigid inflatable boats, also distributed under the Avon and Bombard brand names. Including the manufacture of multi-layer insulations for satellites and stratospheric balloons, the French-based company generates a total annual turnover of about €50 million. It employs 430 people at its operations in France, Tunisia and the U.S. as well as sales offices in Italy, Spain, Germany, the U.K. and Canada.
