Invista, a leading supplier of technical fabrics and the owner of the Lycra brand, has become a member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC). This group brings together more than 60 companies and other stakeholders in the apparel and footwear business that aim not to cause unnecessary environmental harm and to have a positive impact on communities. The SAC was formally launched in March 2011 and the partnership has already led to the introduction of the Higg Index, which enables companies to assess their environmental impact. Invista said it would contribute to the SAC's work on the sustainability of apparel and put some of its resources at the group's disposal to contribute to the Higg Index.
