Vaude has announced that all the textiles it has used in its spring/summer 2018 collection, its most recent collection, are 100 percent polyfluorocarbons (PFCs) free. The German outdoor specialist has also said that a block toward the total elimination of PFCs has been finding PFC-free alternatives for waterproof zips in high-performance products. However, starting in summer 2019, Vaude claims it will be one of the first outdoor companies to phase out the use of PFCs here as well. The goal to make all Vaude products 100 percent PFC-free by 2020 remains in place. Meanwhile, work to achieve PFC-free water-repellency in all its backpacks, footwear and tents, without reducing functionality, continues, the company said.
