Vaude has been recognized with the 2018 Environmental Award for Businesses. The award ceremony was held in the Neuen Schloss in Stuttgart, where Baden-Württemberg's Environment Minister, Franz Untersteller, presented the award to Vaude's chief executive, Antje von Dewitz. The award is given by the Ministry of Environment of Baden-Württemberg to companies that have shown outstanding achievements in corporate environmental protection and exemplary environmentally oriented company management. Founded as an annual event in 1993, the prize has been awarded every two years since 2002. The jury is composed of representatives from businesses as well as environmental and conservation associations, trade unions, research institutes and the ministries of German states. Vaude won the award in the category for “Industrial businesses with more than 250 employees.” The company said it will use the €10,000 prize for future corporate environmental-protection measures. The award has an endowment of €60,000 and is given out in six categories.
