Patagonia has hired Dean Carter as vice president for human resources and shared services. Carter is to report directly to Rose Marcario, the outdoor company's chief executive. Described as an avid hiker, snowboarder and swimmer, he was previously chief human resources officer at Sears Holdings and at Fossil Inc. Carter is to be based at Patagonia's head office in Ventura, California.
