Shaw Gorman, the 47-year-old great-grandson of Leon Leonwood Bean, who founded L.L. Bean in 1917, will be the new chairman of the American company, where he has already worked for more than 20 years in various functions, including brand communication. He will take the place of his father Leon A. Gorman, who is retiring after 33 years of service as president and chief executive and 12 years as chairman. Besides its big online store, L.L. Bean currently operates 131 physical stores, 62 of which are in China. It had sales of $1.52 billion in 2012.
